2022 Spring Chicken Run 5K
to support Sweetwater Mission
Seventeen years ago, in 2003, a small group met in the Macland community in Cobb County. Some were Presbyterians, some were Methodists and only a mile separated their respective churches. They were united in purpose: an annual footrace. For several years, a committee with members from both churches coordinated and organized the race.
As it grew in reputation, Macland Presbyterian took over the entire responsibility, renaming it The Spring Chicken Run, and dedicating the proceeds to a favorite charity: Sweetwater Mission (formerly known as C.A.M.P.) in Austell.
In 2010 Macland Presbyterian Church transitioned the planning and logistics of the run to Sweetwater Mission.
Then in 2017 the location of the race moved to downtown Powder Springs. The Spring Chicken Run welcomes runners and walkers of all ages to this family friendly event.
It’s fun for the whole family, and a worthy cause!

Sweetwater Mission provides food, clothing, education programs and family support services to our neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet. A dedicated group of more than 200 volunteers share their time and talents to help perform all program services.
